As a part-time landscaper, I often find weeds in the yards of my costumers that I have to get rid of… I kill them with poison or I pull them out. No one likes weeds. It makes our yards look, well… ugly. So we get rid of them, or we let them consume (corrupt) our yard. What’s my point? There could be things in your life that might be killing you right now, a weed. I had a weed in my life that God wanted me to kill, and that weed was my addiction to porn. It was corrupting me. It was consuming my whole life. It was destroying my beauty, the beauty of my character. I had to kill it. And, I did. It wasn’t easy, but I killed the weed in my life.
God wants you to do the same. If you have a weed in your life that is holding you back from reaching your fullest potential in being who God created you to be — kill it. Don’t let a weed consume your beautiful life. Our spirit is better than an arsenal of of weed killers. Following the desires of the spirit will give you the ability to kill the things that are wrong in your life.
“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.” — Colossians 3:5
Put to death the things that belong to your earthly nature; kill the weeds. It won’t be easy, but it’s not impossible. I killed my addiction to pornography, so you can kill your weed too.
